Have I told you how much I love my job?

Over the last few weeks I have visited, and reported on, a number of wonderful establishments. I have also hosted some fabulous Lunch Bunches and a great Supper Club. Jeff Richard, owner of the Old Stone Church in Castle Rock, and I hosted two couples who had entered a contest to become restaurant reviewers on the radio show. Plates included brussels sprouts with sausage, scallop tacos, chicken flautas, ahi tuna won ton, and more, not to mention a variety of desserts. Both winners joined me on the air to report their findings, and both were impressed with the new “shareables” menu and the new decor. They did a nice job.

Billy’s Old World Pizza

A Lunch Bunch at Billy’s Old World Pizza, a Chicago style pizza eatery in Colorado Springs, was well received, not only for the pizza, but the burgers, the buffet, and the homemade Italian sausage. Billy’s has been serving deep dish pizza for over twenty years, but recently added a burger. Another event that was well received was a Supper Club at Joseph’s Fine Dining on South 8th Street in Colorado Springs. Owner Joseph Freyre, the consummate professional restaurateur, put out a jalapeno and artichoke stuffed mushroom appetizer and entrees included a choice of a sirloin steak, chicken marsala, or salmon. One guest also enjoyed his table side preparation of a spinach salad with a hot bacon dressing.

In the Denver area I stopped by for my periodic Indian food “fix” at India’s Castle on Arapahoe Road just east of I-25. The lunch buffet is always plentiful, fresh, and wonderfully tasty. Open 365 days a year, I find India’s Castle, and the owner Jay, to be the most enjoyable Indian restaurant in the area. Then for Asian, I can’t go too long without a visit to John Holly’s Asian Bistro on Park Meadows Drive in Lone Tree. I always eat too much food, but who can turn down the hot & spicy soup followed by the Las Vegas roll, topped off with the filet mignon Asian style with a black pepper sauce?

For a movie, I loved Reacher. My kind of flick. Lots of action. Read quite a few books, but loved Carl Hiaasen’s Razor Girl. Just a funny, funny book set in the Florida Keys.
