A Trip Down Memory Lane

June 26, 2022

For 15 years the Colorado Mine Company on Virginia Avenue in Glendale rocked the Denver restaurant scene. Buck and Cindy Scott, the owners, excelled at not only good food, huge portions, well poured cocktails, a hospitable and convivial atmosphere, but perhaps most importantly, making everybody feel welcome, important, and like a friend. Buck passed away last December at his home in Michigan surrounded by family, but last Sunday a wonderful celebration was held at Jimmy's Jersey Street Cafe.  Owned by Jimmy Lambatos, long time Denver restaurant owner (you might remember him as the nutty professor in the Quiznos ads on television years ago), Jimmy put out appetizers from the old Mine Company menu.  Fabulous prime rib, a small burgers that were served late night in the bar, the famous Fool's Gold peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Join me this Sunday as I interview Cindy and Bill Burgess, the general manager of the Mine Company, from 10AM-11AM.  In the 11AM hour I will be taking phone calls from anybody who would like to weigh in with stories, memories.  The studio line is 303-696-1971.  Hope to hear from you.  The place, and Buck and Cindy, touched a lot of people.  You are welcome to share your experience(s).
